TAMWORTH Public School’s multi-million-dollar upgrade officially began on Friday.
Set to finish in 2020, the new facilities in East Tamworth will be state-of-the-art and includes seven new contemporary classrooms and a new hall.
“I am thrilled to be here [on Friday] to mark the beginning of construction of this huge upgrade, which will be enjoyed by Tamworth kids for years to come,” Education Minister Sarah Mitchell said.
“We want our children to have the best education possible, and providing world-class facilities is a key part of that.”
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said the state government was prioritising regional education, with a number of major upgrades taking place in the New England area and across the state.
“This project at Tamworth Public School will deliver the excellent resources our wonderful teachers and students in the electorate deserve,” Mr Anderson said.
“This upgrade will include the refurbishment of existing classrooms to provide three practical activities areas, the upgrade of the hall to provide extra staff facilities and the renewal of the former teacher’s cottage.
