Arts Bundaberg 2020 program launched with a flourish

2020 will be a great time for lovers of arts and culture, if the Arts Bundaberg 2020 program is anything to go by.

The program was launched on Saturday night at Fairymead House and shows that arts and culture is very much alive in our region.

This edition of the Arts Bundaberg program lists 62 workshops and public programs, 23 live events, 36 cinema events, 10 exhibitions and 4 works in development.

Rod Ainsworth, Council’s manager, Arts & Cultural Services, said the program covers a multitude of venues and events.

Arts Bundaberg program a ‘one-stop shop’

“The 2020 program includes listings for the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre, Galleries in Childers and Bundaberg, as well as our regional Libraries,” Rod said.

“It’s a one-stop-shop for people looking for anything related to arts and culture in our region.

“People have been eagerly awaiting the printed programs, but it also links with What’s On Bundaberg, which is a comprehensive searchable listing of everything that’s on in our region – Council and Community alike.”

A flick through the comprehensive Arts Bundaberg 2020 program shows just how many events are on offer in our region – from the Galleries in Childers and Bundaberg; to Libraries in Gin Gin, Childers and Bundaberg; as well as concerts, live theatre and cinema experiences.

“We’ve had city venues telling us that our season program is equivalent to with what’s happening in metro centres, with our Bundaberg centres being included in highly sought-after tours” Rod said.

“We’ve really lifted the game in terms of programming and we’re very proud of the work we’re creating here in our community, which is also up there with the best touring product.

“We want to celebrate our local artists in equal measure to visiting work.

“We sometimes hear people saying there’s nothing to do in Bundaberg – this book proves them wrong.”

The Arts Bundaberg 2020 program will available at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre, Galleries, Libraries and Council Administration building and also online here.
